Fantasy Football Drafting Help

The next fantasy football draft is heading your way. How should you prepare to pick the best team? What do you need to know about fantasy football drafting strategies. The first and probably most important thing to know is your league rules. How many players are on a roster? What’s the scoring system? How does free agency work? How does trading during the season work? When’s the trade deadline? And what’s the draft order? The following guide will give you valuable tips and tricks for the fantasy football draft process.

Prepare yourself ahead of time. Get a copy of the draft and game rules. Make sure nothing has changed compared to the year before (if you have played fantasy football before) Read the rules and make sure you are familiar the actual drafting method, the scoring system, and anything else that is laid out in the rules of fantasy football.  If you’re new to fantasy football, learn all the terminology. Prepare a cheat sheet, too. Read up on who other people think are sleepers. Listen to water cooler discussions of who is considered a hot pick and who to ignore.

Be aware of “bye Weeks” and how it can affect your team. Build different “versions” of your “perfect” team upfront. Make sure you know the combinations and pick accordingly when the drafting is upon you. Example: Never draft a backup QuarterBack that has the same bye week as your starter QB. This would really defeat the purpose of drafting him in the first place. Also, keep in mind that the value of a player is determined not by the number of points he scores, but by how much he outscores his (competing) peers at his particular position.
